Educational Visits

Taking children on trips adds an extra dynamic to learning in a social as well as academic sense.Trips for different age ranges have included: various museums, the zoo, the seaside, living history projects in the forest, the cathedral as well as using the village as a resource for local study.

In the EYFS the 7 areas of learning are covered throughout the week, usually in 1/2 termly themes.

In KS1 and 2 the foundation subjects are taught in a cross curricular way through themes and topics enabling children to make links in their learning. Elements of maths, literacy and science are taught within the topic where relevant, but otherwise are taught as stand alone subjects.

Outdoor Learning

We consider that opportunities to learn outside are an essential element of the curriculum. We have dedicated, secure outdoor areas for all classes and are in the process of enhancing them further. In addition to school areas we have an allotment and constant access to Rowley Wood, which is a 5 minute walk through the fields.
